“Where everybody knows your name.”
When Italian Bartolo Russo left his island home of Stromboli, Italy with a dream of foreign shores he couldn’t have known he would ever end up in New Zealand. In 1881, after being shipwrecked near India and subsequently rescued, Bartolo landed safely in his new home, Wellington. Bartolo’s love of fishing and island life made the eastern shores of Wellington Harbour the ideal place for him to settle.
In the hills of Eastbourne, Bartolo continued to dream. He invested in the area and found others to join him. He would eventually build a house, get married, raise a family of 12, and firmly establish what is now known as Eastbourne.
Located on Oroua Street in the alluring Eastbourne Village, The Still Room is set snug in the centre of the Eastbourne community. Fitted with an elegant bar and fully functional kitchen, this unique character property comes ready for investors and dreamers like Bartollo Russo.
An enclosed courtyard and outside dining area add to the properties charm as well as its marketing value.
In addition to the usual amenities the previous owners of the bar installed a take away canning operation that allows patrons to have their favourite draught craft beer canned and sealed for take away.
This property is ideal for a “mine host” who wants to place themselves immediately at the heart of the Eastbourne community. Whether hosting a wedding function, live music, a raffle for the local school or just a regular night out, you will be an integral piece of the Eastbourne Community.
